Week 30

This is what our fabulous first graders are learning this week:

Math:  Students will learn to read, write and tell time to the hour and in half hours.

IXL:
Graphing: 0.1-4
Fractions: X.1-9
Measuring: P.2-5
Place Values: M
3D Objects: W.1-10 
Time:  U.1-7

Phonics: Students continue to identify the soft c and soft g applications of word. If a C or G is followed by e,i,or y it will have a soft sound.

Core KnowledgeWe will continue our unit on Habitats. This week we will talk about endangered species.  Our end of the unit review will be an camouflaged animal habitat that we will do here at school.

Writing: We are almost finished with our OPINION writing and will soon begin our NARRATIVE unit of writing:  Narrative writing is a small moment story told from personal experience.  Just like our other units, we will break this own into small chunks and do several of them together before they write their own independent piece.

Clubhouse Open for Spring Break
Clubhouse will be open the following days during Spring Break:

Monday, April 10 - Thursday, April 13.

Week 29

Math:  Interim review and testing March 22-23rd

IXL:
Graphing: 0.1-4
Fractions: X.1-9
Measuring: P.2-5
Place Values: M
3D Objects: W.1-10 

Phonics: This week the students will identify the soft c and soft g applications of word.

Core KnowledgeWe will be continue our unit on Habitats. They will learn about the plants and animals that live in the Arctic, Tundra, Desert, Savanna, Forests, Fresh water and Ocean.  They will identify the adaptations the animals and plants have to make in order to survive in their environments.

Interactive Read Aloud:  This week students will finish reading multiple Fractured Fairy tales and identifying the parts a Fairy tale and it's fractured tale have in common and how they contrast.
