May 22nd-26th

It is the last full week of the year! As we are complete with our testing, we will be using this week to reinforce what they have learned all year.

Math: We will be using this time to review essential skills using games, and activities to engage all student learning.

Reading: This time will be dedicated to phonics reinforcement activities, and doing a book study as a whole class.

Core Knowledge: We are currently learning about electricity. This week they will be covering what conductors and insulators do, and how energy moves in a circuit to create the power we have in our homes.

Writing: We will be doing various activities this week to reinforce their writing skills.

IRA: This will be integrated with reading and the book study we will be doing.

May 15th - 19th

From the PE Department:
Students will also be needing to wear or bring tennis shoes to wear outside for gym. Their current gym shoes do not count. This second pair may be stored in their shoe bins outside the classroom.

What we are learning this week:

Math: Interim week! is over! We conclude this week with selective math review games.

Phonics: This week is focused on antonyms, and how we can use them to replace words we may usually use.

Core Knowledge: This week we finish the  final CK unit on electricity.  Students will be exploring static electricity, circuits and conductors/insulators through hands on experiences. Students will also be learning about ways to stay safe when using electricity.

Writing: We will work on selective writing projects

IRA: We will be reading books that focus on characters change, and traits. How can we describe the character beyond a physical description?
