week 21

Here’s what our CA first graders are learning in our 21st week:

IRA: This month we start by taking a look at the author, Jan Brett.  We will read The Mitten, The Three Snow Bears, Hedgies Surprise, and The Three Dassies"   Each story sowcases Jan Brett's creative style of story telling mixed with rich illustrations that make the story come to life.

Phonics:  We are focusing on reading and spelling the  r control sound of or.   (short, doctor, and order)

Writing: We have begun our informational writing piece of non-fiction. Your child will be reading non-fiction books and writing a report style writing piece. They begin by writing one, with support, but later will write one on their own.  They are amazing!

Math: We  have begun graphing data using bar graphs, picture graphs, and tally graphs.  Students will be able to analze, interprut, and create these types of graphs.

  • Counting and Number Patterns (Section A)
  • Addition (Section B, C & D)
  • Subtraction (Section E, F, G & H)
  • Mixed Operations (Section J)
  • Comparing (Section K)
  • Place Value (Section M)
  • Spacial Sense (Section N)
  • Graphing  (Section O)
